Hot days, changed the picking strategy. Excellent quality tomatoes.Hot northerly winds has resulted in hot windy days with cool nights. Temperature ranging between 8 to 15 degrees overnight and 22 to 44 during the day.
We are picking early morning to avoid the impact of the hot windy conditions on the tomatoes. We are picking reasonable quantities.
The quality of the tomatoes is absolutely first class. Due to the hot weather we have picked few greenhouses earlier than normal, therefore the colour stage is slightly backwards.
We have been busy all week picking and packing tomatoes. We are monitoring the internal and external greenhouse temperatures activating the evaporating cooling system as required to maintain the health of the plants.
