Quality is good.
The heat wave that we have recently experienced has contributed to maturing the tomatoes faster, therefore, this week’s harvest was good in quality but slightly forward in colour. We will begin planting our second crop late next week in all houses except for the ones which have long term crops.

The current weather is optimal and has helped plant productivity much more than we initially anticipated. Volumes will remain as current if the weather continues and the quality of the capsicums are also exceeding expectations. Our fertigation regime and pest management have proven to be extremely effective.

Overall, fruit is ok in quality but slightly forward in colour.
Extremely hot days. Daily temperatures ranged between 15°C - 43°C. Overnight temperatures ranged between 11°C - 21°C.
Large numbers harvested.
Quality is ok with fruit being slightly forward in colour than what we prefer.
We had four days with temperatures exceeding 40°C, which has placed the plants under enormous stress. Overall, fruit is ok in quality but slightly forward in colour. Fortunately, as the heat wave passed we received rain, which helped the plants as well as strip them of any dust which can sometimes bring on plant diseases during such hot and dry weather. We are expecting a lot of rain later in the week and are hopeful that damage is minimal.

We will complete picking the current plantings in two weeks time.
Hot days and warm nights. Daily temperatures ranged between 15°C – 36°C. Overnight temperatures ranged between 10°C - 15°C.

Quality is good.
We will complete picking the current plantings in two weeks time. Volumes will pick up again as our latest plantings will come into production over the next two weeks. The temperature forecast for the next four days will reach well above 40°C and we are well placed to handle this extremity. This is due to the fact that we will be harvesting from our hydro houses which have pads and fans. This enables us to have some control over temperatures within the houses.

Hot days and cool nights. Daily temperatures ranged between 12°C - 37°C. Overnight temperatures ranged between 10°C - 20°C.
Good numbers harvested.
Quality is good.
We are expecting larger harvest volumes considering that we have three patches in production and are experiencing very hot days. The cool overnight temperatures are giving the plants a rest from the daily heat. They have also been planted in virgin ground and are receiving greater care to ensure that they are not overwhelmed, contributing to a normal ripening process and maintaining plant health and fruit quality.

A considerable amount of effort was directed towards managing the tomato plants through these extreme temperatures along with ensuring that they are able to recover well. Our hydroponic plants and tomatoes are doing very well and look to be in excellent health.
