We are weary of the forecast as temperatures will rise again.
Sunny days with very hot temperatures. Daily temperatures ranged between 16°C - 44°C. Overnight temperatures ranged between 12°C - 23°C.
Good numbers harvested.
Quality overall is good.
Considering the conditions, which changed from cold to extremely hot in such a short space of time, planting and fruit health are both looking good. We are weary of the forecast as temperatures will rise again between 37°C to 45°C. This may put plants under stress, which can compromise fruit quality and future volumes due to flower drop.

Volumes are up and quality is also very good. Plants are looking very healthy and strong. Between this week and next week, there will be a period of warmer temperatures which may compromise fruit quality. We are preparing and changing our growing strategies in order to get through this period with minimal repercussion.

The first harvest of the 2018-2019 season was been performed mid this week. The quality of the first pick is reasonable. This is due to the early weather in the season, which has been quite harsh. Fruit coming up from the next harvest, however, is looking much better.

The current harvest pattern will continue until the end of the month. Numbers of Red Capsicums picked are way above the volumes of Yellow, while Green sits in between. Looking at the plants, there is plenty of fruit setting and plenty in the green mature stage, which will just need to take colour in order to be picked.

Victoria has had quiet unfortunate weather due to heavy rain. Although, our specific region did not experience such weather. Showers however, are forecast over the weekend and we are hoping that we do not receive as much rain as the metropolitan areas as it may compromise the quality of the first harvest, which is planned to take place within a week.

Because temperatures climbed consistently, we harvested all fruit.
Sunny and very hot days. Daily temperatures ranged between 15°C - 40°C. Overnight temperatures ranged between 12°C - 15°C.
Good numbers harvested.
Fruit is looking very good.
Because temperatures climbed consistently, we harvested all fruit at the “breaker” colour stage to avoid fruit reaching full colour and becoming soft. We also picked our 3rd planting for the 1st time, where our pads and fans are located and although outside temperatures reached above 40°C, internal temperatures where at 28°C, therefore avoiding any issues.

Weather conditions have changed from cool, to very hot. A big jump in a very short period, which has obviously stressed the plants. With our efforts in maintaining these young plants, we expect them to adjust to these new temperatures quickly. Hopefully, we will not have excessive flower drop which will effect the volumes at the start of the season.

These tomatoes will be ready for harvesting next week.

Reasonable numbers harvested earlier on in the week.
Quality is very good.
We have had a very good start to the week. Our harvest schedule has slowed down as we now face different growing conditions. Maximum daily temperatures are reaching an average of 18°C, which has slowed down the ripening of the fruit. We have also had to change our growing strategy to make sure the plants are not going in to shock.

Currently, we are happy with how we have progressed.

Capsicums are looking good in colour, shape, size and shine.
Currently, we are happy with how we have progressed through the season so far. If the weather continues as current, our harvesting may slow down as fruit will take longer to mature due to the lack of sunlight.

Due to the current weather we have found it challenging.
Sunny and hot days with hot nights. Daily temperatures ranging between 24°C - 33°C. Overnight temperatures ranged between 18°C - 21°C.
Small numbers harvested.
Quality is holding up well.
Due to the current weather we have found it challenging to pick reasonable numbers of fruit that are of good size, quality and colour. The constant hot days, heavy dews and high humidity have begun to challenge our crops and growing strategies. If this continues we will have to finish our season earlier than expected.

Plant health and fruit quality are good. Size, however is still on the small end. Nights are now getting slightly cooler, which will slow down the fruit’s ripening process and hopefully will give us more time to apply new growing strategies to get larger fruit size.
